I received my PhD from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at Purdue University, USA, where my advisor was Prof. Charles Bouman.
At Purdue, I was funded by the Air Force Research Lab and MURI to work on inverse imaging problems like denoising, inpainting, sparse image interpolation, super-resolution, electron tomography. My PhD work was instrumental in developing the "plug-and-play" framework which is a flexible distributed optimization technique to incorporate state-of-the-art denoising algorithms (like BM3D, non-local means, KSVD, etc.) as Bayesian prior models for regularized inversion.
Prior to this, I completed my Master of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. At Windsor, I worked on high-speed algorithms for modular arithmetic. This work was intended for public-key crypto-systems. My advisors were Prof. Majid Ahmadi and Prof. Huapeng Wu.
I am from the wonderful city of Bangalore in south India - where I earned my undergraduate degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
